Peacefully at his residence on Saturday, March 11, 2017, Mr. Bert Nieuwenhuis of Somerset, Manitoba passed away at the age of 83 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Anita, his children, Jane (Brian) Ward, Marianne (Chris) Robbie, Katherine (Bill) Klingenberg and daughter-in-law Clarinda Nieuwenhuis; his step-children, Cathy (Bruce) Reid and Audrey (Gerald) Unrau as well as his grandchildren, Kaitlin (Paul) Gregoire, Adam (Samantha) Ward, A.J. Robbie, Drew Robbie, Abigail Robbie, Elisabeth Klingenberg, Victoria Klingenberg, Joshua Nieuwenhuis, Charlotte Nieuwenhuis, Nicholas Nieuwenhuis, Ashley Corrie (Jamie), Amanda (Steve) Vancauwenberghe, Chelsey (Dean) Nichols, Vanessa (Lyndon) Giesbrecht, Darin (Michelle) Unrau and Colin (Eva) Unrau; great grandchildren, Natasha Gregoire, Lexie Corrie, Charlie, Bailey, Theo and Nash Vancauwenberghe, Owen and Brody Nichols, Asher, Seeley, Kathryn and Anthony Giesbrecht and Malachi Unrau. He also leaves to mourn his brothers Wim (Gré) Nieuwenhuis and Rudy Nieuwenhuis and sisters-in-law Janny Nieuwenhuis and Elly Nieuwenhuis.

Bert is predeceased by his first wife Anne (née Zantinge) son Mark Nieuwenhuis and his two brothers John and Leo Nieuwenhuis and one sister-in-law Betty Nieuwenhuis.

A private family memorial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MCC, Siloam Mission or to a charity of one’s choice.
