Denis Dufault

After battling multiple health concerns, Denis Joseph Dufault (age 72) passed away peacefully with his nieces by his side at the Carman Memorial Hospital on July 6, 2017.

Much to his older brother Marcel’s delight, Denis was born March 2, 1945 at the St. Boniface Hospital to parents Clémence and Edmond Dufault. The family lived in Winnipeg until Denis was 11, at that time they moved to Haywood and began their lives on the family dairy farm. While living in Winnipeg Denis attended École Provencher and Maison Chapelle in St. Boniface followed by Haywood then St. Claude school after moving to the farm.

As an adult Denis took great pleasure in community involvement; holding positions such as Director of the St Claude Residence (home for the handicapped), he also enjoyed many years as a member of the local Lions Club and the St. Claude Ag Society.

Above all Denis cherished his family and he leaves behind to mourn his loss his brother Marcel (Gail) Dufault, his nephews and nieces: Michel (Nancy) Dufault, Gisèle (Randy) Perkin, René (Sharon) Dufault, Suzanne (Mike) Macina, Kim Wilson and special friend Kyle Gallant, Stephanie (Brett) Legault, his great-nephews and nieces, his Aunt Anna and many wonderful friends.

Denis was predeceased by his parents Clémence and Edmond Dufault, his sister-in-law Diane Dufault, his brother Lucien and Ghislain Levesque who assisted on the farm for many years under Denis’ direction and was like a brother to him.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the wonderful team of caregivers at the Carman Hospital for the care and attention Denis received there.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Haywood at the St. Denis Church. Viewing, prayers and eulogy at 1:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 2 p.m. with Msgr. Roger Bazin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Ward at the Carman Memorial Hospital.
