Denyse Lesage

(née Grenier)

Denyse passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord surrounded by her family on October 3, 2016, just days before her 82 birthday.

She will be forever remembered and loved in the hearts of her husband Romeo and children Gerald (Diane) Lesage, Robert (Barbara) Lesage, Jocelyn (Greg) Leslie, and Mona (Camille) Thomson. Denyse was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, grandmother of 8 grandsons; Christopher, Ryan, Michael (Erika), Corey, Paul, Travis, Jonathan and Cody, and most recently a beautiful great granddaughter Natalie. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Lorette and Edith, brothers Etienne, Donald, Richard and Remi as well as many brothers and sisters in-law. She was predeceased by her parents, Edmond and Antoinette and two sisters, Simone and Evelyne.

Mom was the rock of our family who always had time to lend a hand or an ear. As a family, we were blessed by her strong faith and unconditional love.

Romeo and Denyse raised their four children in Treherne MB. Mom was a homemaker and led the effort in organizing her children’s school and extracurricular activities. She was also an active participant in their four oldest grandsons’ lives. After moving to Calgary in 1993, Mom and Dad were fortunate to watch the next set of four grandsons grow up. Mom was again actively involved and an important influence in their childhood. Activities she enjoyed with all of her grandsons included taking in many minor hockey games, sewing, baking cookies and building paper dinosaurs. Sleepover visits were a treasured treat for each of the grandsons.

Mom loved nature and its impressive beauty. Her many hikes in the Rocky Mountains with family or her hiking friends brought much joy and satisfaction. She was an avid golfer and cross-country skier. She passed on her love for these activities to her children and grandsons. Mom shared her many gifts and talents of love, patience, and tireless effort.

Mom was very involved in her community. She volunteered her time and talents to different organizations CWL, Sacred Heart Parish in Treherne. Shortly after moving to Calgary she immersed herself in St. Michael’s Parish ministries including Inn from the Cold and the Society of St Vincent de Paul.

Those wishing to join us to celebrate her life are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Timothy Parish 135 John Forsyth Road, Winnipeg, MB on Wednesday October 12 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Treherne Parish Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Manitoba, 414 Westmount Dr, Winnipeg, MB R2J 1P2.
