Welcome to the memorial page for

Doris (nee Van Der Vennet) Bieber

April 23, 2016

Doris Emilie Bieber

(nee Van Der Vennet)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved wife, daughter, sister and aunt Doris Emilie Bieber (nee Van Der Vennet) at her residence in MacGregor, Manitoba on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the age of 60 years.

Left to mourn her passing and cherish her loving memory are her husband Lorne Bieber, mother Terry Van Der Vennet (Floren), brothers, Keith Van Der Vennet, Brian Van Der Vennet, sisters, Brenda (Michael Lippens) and Kelli (Ken Stuisuk) as well as in laws, Charlene (Dave Dittmer) and Carolyn (Jim Manastyr) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her father George Van Der Vennet (1990) and brother Rene Van Der Vennet (1977).

Doris was born in Glenboro, Manitoba on April 28, 1955 to George and Terry Van Der Vennet and brother Rene. They resided on the farm owned by Doris’s grandmother Emilie Van Der Vennet which was situated south west of Cypress River. Two more children were born on the Cypress farm, Keith and Brenda. In 1961 the family bought and moved to a farm south of Treherne where two more children were born, Brian and Kelli.

Doris attended Treherne elementary school, but did her high school years in Portage la Prairie. She moved to Winnipeg at the age of 20 and resided in Winnipeg for several years moving to Somerset for a short period of time. In the early 90s Doris went up to British Columbia for a short period to help a cousin who was battling cancer. Doris grew to enjoy and fell in love with British Columbia and decided to remain.

It was through church activities that Doris met her husband to be, Lorne Bieber. They were married in 1995 and remained in BC until 2004; then moved to Baldur, Manitoba. They resided there for several years before moving to Glenora where they remained for 2 years. They then moved to Pilot Mound for a little over a year, until moving to MacGregor, Manitoba to a wheel chair accessible home.

Through all their moves Doris’s faith in God and the love of her church remained true. Family and friends and church gatherings were Doris’s world. She truly loved her family gatherings where she would mix and mingle with both the old and the young, but all her nephews and nieces always had a special place in her heart. Although Doris was not blessed with children of her own she had a special passion for loving and working with children, which showed in her fostering children for several years. Doris loved fostering and right to the very end had a special relationship with a little boy whom she loved dearly.

Doris was a person who never judged others, who gave freely to whoever was in need even if she couldn’t afford to do so. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and mending clothing for family and friends. She loved being out and about visiting with friends and family near and far. Doris was blessed with having found kind and caring church families who continually offered Doris and Lorne help in any way in which they needed it. These special groups of people had a special place in Doris’s heart, which she spoke of many times with great fondness and appreciation.

Doris, you are at peace now, no more worries, no more problems, no more pain. You have reunited with Dad and Rene. And God be willing we will join you in years to come. We’ll always love you.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Lepp officiating. A private family interment will take place at the Treherne Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
