Joseph Leon Hubert Ricard, passed away on April 1, 2018 after spending the day, Easter Sunday with family, one of the things he loved most.

Leon will be deeply missed by his wife Marie-Ange; his children, Hubert Ricard (Nancy Barron), Lorraine Lockhart (Shawn) and Robert Ricard (Becky Switzer); and his precious grandchildren, Kaylem Grift, Cole and Carson Lockhart, Mackenzie Switzer, Avery and Brad Ricard.

Leon was born to Joseph and Alexandrine Ricard and was raised in Mariapolis, Manitoba in a large family of 10 children, predeceased by both parents, his siblings Eva Lussier, Arthur Ricard, Julie Desrochers, Leo Ricard (Leon’s twin brother).  Survived by his siblings Henri Ricard (Carole Adams), Rene Ricard (Marjorie Wytinck), Antoine Ricard (Bernice Wytinck), Antoinette DeVligier (Eddie) and George Ricard (Solange Desrochers) and siblings-in law Albert Lussier and George Desrochers.

Leon established his farm in 1963 and he and Marie-Ange were married in 1965, where they began their grain and mixed farming adventures.  In 2003, his son Robert took over the farm and Leon continued to help out on the farm with cultivating, baling, mowing grass, feeding cattle and whatever involved being in his 4020 John Deer tractor.  At the age of 84 years old, Leon was still active on the farm just before his passing and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Our Lady of Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Mariapolis, Manitoba on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 am with Father Vincent Lusty officiating.
