Lucienne Roch

(née Danais)

Peacefully at the St. Claude Pavilion on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, Mrs. Lucienne Roch of St. Claude, Manitoba passed away at the age of 81 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing six children, Aline (Denis) Bernard, Rene (Shelley) Roch, Raynald (Nora) Roch, Nicole Coutts, Norbert (Darlene) Roch and Marcel Roch; 12 grandchildren, Richard (Michelle), Nathalie, Mirielle (Trent), Marc (Chantal), Lizette (Dale), Dominique, Philippe, Arianne (Matt), Colin, Michelle, Jaedn and Gwendlynn; three great-grandchildren, Justin, Trenton and Maxx. She also leaves to mourn four siblings, Clothilde Dondo, Annette (Roger) Bruneau, Lorraine (Lucien) Collet, Denis (Denise) Danais; her in-laws, Raymond (Angele) Roch; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Albert Roch in 1988; her parents, Raymond Danais and Julienne (nee Kervinio); three infant sons; one brother-in-law Andre Dondo; one son-in-law Wayne Coutts; and by one great-grandson Alex Bernardin.

Mom was born prematurely on June 13, 1935 in Cardinal, Manitoba. From the beginning she learned to be a survivor. She was raised in St. Claude and attended Emberley school. At 16 she went to work at St. Boniface Hospital for a short while. She returned to St. Claude and worked for several families as a nanny and later as the housekeeper of the rectory. She married Albert Roch in October 1955 and they took residence on a farm south of Treherne. There she raised her family. She worked hard on the farm along side Albert, loved gardening and flowers, did lots of canning and cooking. Mom enjoyed family gatherings as family meant lots to her. Mom and dad retired from the farm and moved to ND de Lourdes. By then she was working as a HCA for home care and at the convent and also as a cook for the nuns. She later did some traveling and went to spend time with her kids. She moved to St. Claude in 2003 and later to the St.Claude Health Center in July 2013.

We would like to thank Dr. Denis Fortier for taking care of mom for so many years, all the homecare staff for taking care of her so well which made it possible for her to stay in her own house longer. Thank you to Josiane Desmet for making mom's ADP days enjoyable and doing the extras that makes people happy. Thank you to all the staff of the St. Claude Health Center for the wonderful care and support to make it feel like home for her. Thank you to Dr. Viens and all physicians of St. Claude clinic for looking after mom the last 3 years. Thank you to Alvin, Maria and rest of the staff for your compassion and making things easier for us.
