Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital on July 3, 2017, Maggie McKinney began her journey into the spirit world, at the age of 81 years. 

Maggie leaves to mourn her five children, Lloyd (Linda), Dewayne (Tammy), Larry, Marlene (Ron) and Deana; her 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn two sisters, Doreen Cameron (Ed Doucette) and Josephine Spence, one brother Philip Martin and special friends, Joyce Hobson and Ellen Acoby, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband George, daughter Elizabeth, her parents John Martin and Alice Cameron, two brothers Robert and Joe, three sisters Lucy, Nora and Vickie.

Maggie was a kind hearted woman, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She will be sadly missed by family, friends and everyone that knew her. She practised and lived by her traditional ways and teachings. 

Mom loved to play bingo, sew, bead work and to cook for her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. 

Traditional Wake will be held at the Swan Lake First Nation Hall on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 4 p.m. Traditional Funeral Services will be held at the Swan Lake First Nation Hall on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 12 p.m. with Elder Charlie Nelson officiating.  Interment to follow at the Indian Springs Cemetery. 

Pallbearers: Dave McKinney, Brad McKinney, Garett McKinney, Shannon McKinney, Brent Meleck and Matthew McKinney. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Maggie’s grandsons.
