Romeo Lesage

(May 5, 1928 – February 4, 2017)

Romeo passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital surrounded by his family on February 4, 2017 at the age of 88.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Denyse, parents Joseph and Eva, and siblings, Odile, Annette and Roland as well as other brothers and sisters-in-law.

Dad will always be loved and remembered in the hearts of his children Gerald, Robert, Jocelyn and Mona and their spouses Diane, Barbara, Greg and Cam. He will also be sadly missed by eight loving grandsons that he treasured – Christopher, Ryan, Michael (Erika), Corey, Paul, Travis, Jonathan and Cody, and recently a beautiful great granddaughter Natalie.

Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sisters in-law Donald Grenier, Edith Grenier, Lorette and George Henderson, Richard and Linda Grenier, Remi and Dana Grenier, and Etienne and Doreen Grenier, as well as many nieces and nephews from both the Lesage and Grenier families, cousins and friends.

Dad started a successful construction business in the late 1950’s and ran it for 34 years. That was the basis for a great family life with his wife Denyse and their four children in Treherne. The family grew and evolved with the first round of four grandsons in the 80’s. He and Mom moved to Calgary in 1993 where there was opportunity to start up a smaller business focused on renovations. Along with that came another round of four grandsons in the 90’s. Dad took pleasure in family and his work. He took on many projects with each of us, whether it was home construction, renovations or building a deck or a fence. He took particular enjoyment in sharing his skills and knowledge with his grandsons.

Dad has left us with a legacy of the importance of hard work, fairness, looking after family, supporting others as well as having fun along the way. He was always there to provide us guidance, support and a common-sense perspective. Dad’s generosity and fair mindedness was part of his every day approach with his immediate and extended family as well as his many friends. Dad’s pastimes included old time music and dancing, fiddling contests, flying in small planes, antique cars and railroad construction through the Rockies. He loved hearing and sharing jokes with most everyone he met. His grandsons often revel about Grandpa’s fun loving and unique sense of humour.

We will miss you Dad but are comforted knowing that you are dancing in heaven with Mom.

Those wishing to join us to celebrate his life are invited to a Funeral Service at Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM. A private family interment will take place in Treherne.
