Théodore (Ted) Sabourin

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Théodore Sabourin of St. Jean-Baptiste on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the age of 94 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Donald (Gisèle), Sylvio (Lucette) and Ginette (Gilles Fouasse); his grandchildren, Stephan (Tracy), Joline (Stephanie), Remi (Aisha), Jacques, Patrick, Joey (Melanie), Monica (Ruan), Derrick (Carrie), Joël, Charline (Pierre), Brigitte (Albert) and Martin (Andrea), his great grandchildren, Zaria, Khaya, Taliyah, Alexandra, Josephine, Danielle, Keith, Charl, Audrey, Juhan, Ava, Halle, Angele, Caleb, Gaby, Alexandre, Milya, Emanuel, Danick, Yvan, Mia, Lexie, Nuri, Amelia, Micah and Nicholas and two great great grandchildren, Avery and Ryleigh. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Cécile Provost, Rose-Aimée Sabourin, Amédée (Thérèse) Sabourin, Denise (Donat) Clément, Lorraine Ricard, Luc (Yvette) Sabourin and Marc Sabourin and his sisters in-law Corrine Sabourin and Yvette Desrochers as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Théodore was predeceased by his wife Bella (née Desrochers), his parents Ulric and Elisabeth (Beaudette) Sabourin, his siblings, Florence (Gérard) Talbot, Lucie (Norbert) Clément, Roland Sabourin and brothers and sisters in-law Bernard Ricard, Roland Provost, Martial Desrochers, Gilbert Desrochers, Dominique (Lawrence) Desrochers and Isabelle (Jean-Marie) Ritchot.

We consider ourselves privileged to have had Théodore as our father and pépère. He was an open-minded, passionate, motivated, caring and loving person who loved life, his family and everything the outdoors had to offer.

Dad’s greatest loves, farming and his family, kept him young and healthy for many years. These passions also kept him going after the loss of his wife, Bella, eleven years ago. Dad had strong convictions and loved great debates but was always excited to listen to others and hear new ideas. He enjoyed offering his advice on various matters, sharing stories from the past and talking about the way things had changed with the seasons over the years. His great sense of humour will be part of our greatest memories of Dad for years to come. Also remembered are his love for wrestling, music and politics.

Dad’s dream was fulfilled as he was able to live life in his home until his very last breath. Although he had lived a few hardships in the past year, we are thankful that his quality of life was maintained until the very end. Although it comforts us to know that Mom welcomed him with open arms, it is with sadness that we must say good-bye to such an admirable man that we treasured so much.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Jean-Baptiste Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 4:00 pm with eulogy prior, followed by Interment in the St. Jean-Baptiste Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba in honour of his wife, Bella: 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4G2.
