Henri Pittet

Peacefully at Foyer Valade on Monday, September 11, 2017, Mr. Henri Pittet of Somerset, Manitoba passed away at the age of 71 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lisa (Oliver), Marc (Colleen), Aimée (Philip) and Mélanie (Derek); grandchildren: Frank, Lewis, Guy, Gabe, Nolan, Leif, Soren, Sofie and Élodie. Also left to mourn are his brothers and sister, Gerald (Jeannine), Lorraine (Ron), Roland (Donna), Normand (Carmel); in-laws, Jacqueline (Murray), Elliette (Denis), Lise (Alan), Claude (Donna), Ginette (Aynsley) and Alice; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Henri was predeceased by his wife Marina Pittet (née Lafrenière), his brother Léo Pittet, his parents Aimé and Marie (née Muller), parents in-law Roland and Claire Lafrenière and sister in-law Anita.

Henri was a man who made a lasting impression beginning with his birth at the Hubbell Siding grain elevator during a prairie winter storm. He strove for excellence in all he did and was known throughout the region for his incredible wrist shot in hockey and his artwork. He established friends far and wide through his flooring business, sports, fishing and art.

Henri was an accomplished artist whose paintings depict the Canadian landscapes he explored as an outdoorsman and photographer. A self-taught artist, Henri faced the challenges of colour-blindness and Parkinson’s disease, yet he continued to paint until he could no longer hold a brush.

Above all Henri was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Marina. Any colour that was missing from his vision was brought to life by his wife. Their four children are forever inspired by the deep love Henri and Marina shared.

The family would like to thank the staff at ActionMarguerite Valade for their patience, professionalism and compassion.
