Obituary

Kenneth Harold Wayne Litton
September 28, 1938 - October 7, 2019

The family wish to announce that Dad/Grandpa has passed away.

Left to mourn his passing are his daughters Marie (Jim) and Maxine (Frank) and his 2 grandchildren Adam and Laura Alkana.

He is survived by his siblings, Audrey (Stuart) Hooey, Marion Bowles, Lloyd (Sandy) Litton, Gwen (John) Marlatt, Dorothy (Barrie) Brooking, and Brian (Joyce) Litton, by numerous nieces and nephews, and also by Yvonne Josephson (Dennis).

He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret Litton, sister Peggy Smart, brother-in-law Ken Bowles, and two infant granddaughters Jennifer and Jessica.

Dad grew up in Rathwell and, after leaving for the “bright lights” of Winnipeg for a few years, he returned to his hometown.

Mom and Dad opened and operated two businesses during their time in Rathwell; Rathwell Grocery and The Wild Turkey Inn. Dad was hard working and liked to keep busy. He always had something on the go; operating a commercial greenhouse, driving the school bus, dabbling in bee keeping, caring for a few head of cattle. After moving back to Winnipeg, Dad worked at STATS Canada until his retirement.

Dad was a strong advocate for his community. He served on town council, he helped with establishing community organizations, and he assisted with fundraising.

Dad enjoyed the outdoors; camping, hunting trips with ‘the boys”, and hunting and fishing with “his girls”.

Dad also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. They meant the world to him. He enjoyed every minute spent with them; fishing and hunting, attending their sporting events and school activities, and family dinners and get-togethers.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dissanayake, Lodi, Dr. Borratt, and the entire staff of 3 South at the Grace Hospital for their exemplary care and compassion.

No funeral will be planned. A private family service will be held in the coming days.

Donations can be made in Dad’s honour to the Rathwell Hall.
