Marie Gauthier

(née Rosset)

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Marie Gauthier on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at her residence in St. Claude, Manitoba, at the age of 78 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband Lucien; her children, Suzanne (Ken) Chambers, Carole (Lionel) Tremorin, Doris (Henri) Tremorin, Rachelle (Roger) Leduc and Robert (Pam) Gauthier; her grandchildren, Corey, Marc, Ginette (Patrick), Nathalie (Nathan), Lisa (Kevin), Micheline (Ryan), Nicole, Eric, Julien (Kailey), Cameron, Aaron and Sean; her great-grandchildren, Rheanne, Emmett, Joelle, Logan, Eli, Taryn and Maxx. She also leaves to mourn her siblings, Denis (Louise) Rosset, Annette Cormier and Claudette Philippe; her in-laws, Monique Rosset, Jeannette Fillion-Rosset, Henri (Yvette) Gauthier, Anna (Tony) Silvari, Laurette Philippot and Céline Gauthier, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Marie was predeceased by her parents Auguste and Rosabelle (née Goulet) Rosset, her grandson Patrick Tremorin and her siblings Rose Fay, Angèle (Réal) Laliberté, Albert (Marie), Gilbert and Donald Rosset, as well as her in-laws, Gaëtan Cormier, Leo (Hermine), Oliva, Alfred, Raoul Gauthier and Raymond Philippot.

Marie was born on December 8, 1938 in the village of St. Claude. She grew up in a family of nine children, on a farm north of town. She attended Barron School until the time came to stay home to help on the family farm and to help with the care of her younger siblings.

In 1960, Marie married Lucien Gauthier. They began their life together on the dairy, beef and grain farm where they raised their five children. They remained there until they retired to the village in 1998.

Marie enjoyed and treasured the time spent with family and friends, recounting endless stories of fun times camping, playing games and travelling. She took great pleasure in participating on community committees and activities, especially in her final years, singing for the residents at the Pavillon.
