Mildred McKinney

Peacefully at the Boundary Trails Health Centre on Thursday, January 3, 2019, Mildred McKinney of Swan Lake First Nation passed away at the age of 61 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Michelle (Kevin) Thomas, Melissa McKinney and Dwain R. Walker Jr. and by numerous grandchildren.  She also leaves to cherish her memory, her sisters, Gloria (Jim) Walker, Cynthia McKinney, Diane (Gaylord) Richard, Norma McKinney, Tracey McKinney, Angela McKinney, Pauline Cameron (Roderick Elk) and Paula Cameron (Craig Soldier); her brothers, Dwayne McKinney (Carolyn), Brian McKinney (Janet), Derek Cassidy, Paul Cameron and William McKinney (Leona); and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Dwayne R. Walker Sr.; her parents, William McKinney Jr. and Margaret Myran-James; her sisters, Miranda McKinney, Eileen McKinney and Lorna McKinney; and by her grandparents, William Sr. and Eliza McKinney, Tiyo and Peter Myran.

A Traditional Wake will be held at the Swan Lake First Nation Hall on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 4 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held at the Swan Lake First Nation Hall on Monday, January 7, 2019 commencing with the feast at 12 noon. Interment to follow at the Indian Springs Cemetery.

The Elders are Dennis Meeches and David Daniels; Drum, Michael Esquash (Spirit Sands Singers); Speaker, Francine Meeches; and Pastors, Leonard and Elaine Houle.

Pallbearers will be Matthew McKinney, Donald McKinney, Brian McKinney Jr, Preston Courchene, Darren Pierre and Harry Monkman

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lionel Cameron, Paul Cameron, Montana Elk, Roman Elk, Brian Merrick, Keith Merrick, Kevin Manningway, Brian McKinney, Danny McKinney, Dwayne McKinney, Patrick McKinney, Sean McKinney, Tony McKinney, William McKinney, Darren Pierre, Michael Pierre, Shaun Pierre, Kevin Soldier, Craig Soldier, Jim Walker, Lynsay Walker, Terrance Walker and Tom Walker Jr.
