Monique Messner
(née Labossière)

Peacefully, with her loving family by her side, at Actionmarguerite Foyer Valade on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, Mrs. Monique Messner passed away at the age of 87 years.

Remaining to forever cherish Monique’s memory are her children, Jacqueline (Ron Cormier), Robert, Donald, Lysanne (Mark Vanderwey) and Patrick; her grandchildren Alexi Skoulas, Ryan and Carley Cormier, Eric, Danielle and Graham Vanderwey.  She also leaves to mourn her sisters-in-law, Marie Labossière and Jacqueline Labossière, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul Messner, her parents Azarie and Noëlla Labossière, and by her siblings, Gérard (Jackie), Jeanne Craigen, Sylvio, Edmée, Marcien, Fernand (Rita), Olier and Jacques. 

Mom was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who supported her children and grandchildren in all their endeavours and in pursuing their dreams. She was a teacher for over 30 years. She was respected by her students and had an impact on many of their lives. In her younger years, she enjoyed curling with dad and her friends. Mom was very proud of her French heritage. She was an avid reader and a very knowledgeable woman due to her love for learning. She will be deeply missed for her calm and gentle demeanour.

The family would like to thank the staff on the third floor at Actionmarguerite Foyer Valade for their compassion and loving care.

Funeral Services will be held at the Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB on Monday, December 23, 2019. Video Tribute at 10:30 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass with Father Armand Le Gal officiating.  Interment will take place in the Somerset Parish Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.

Après une lutte courageuse contre la maladie, Monique Messner, âgée de 87 ans, est décédée à Actionmarguerite Foyer Valade, le 18 décembre 2019.

Elle laisse dans le deuil, ses enfants: Jacqueline (Ron Cormier), Robert, Donald, Lysanne (Mark Vanderwey) et Patrick, ses petits-enfants: Alexi Skoulas, Ryan et Carley Cormier, Eric, Danielle et Graham Vanderwey. Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil, ses belles-soeurs: Marie Labossière, et Jacqueline Labossière et de nombreux neveux et nièces.

Elle fut précédée dans la mort par son époux, Paul, ses parents, Azarie et Noëlla Labossière, ses frères et soeurs: Gérard (Jackie), Jeanne Craigen, Sylvio, Edmée, Marcien, Fernand (Rita), Olier et Jacques.

Maman était une épouse, une mère et une grand-mère dévouée envers ses enfants et ses petits-enfants. Elle était enseignante pour plus que 30 ans. Ses élèves avaient un grand respect pour elle et elle a eu une influence positive sur la vie de nombreux. Un de ses passe-temps préféré était de jouer au curling. Maman était fière de son héritage et de la langue française. Elle adorait la lecture et avait le goût d’apprendre ce qui influença sa decision de poursuivre son education. Maman nous manquera beaucoup pour son caractère doux et chaleureux.

Notre famille aimerait remercier le personnel du troisième étage à Actionmarguerite Foyer Valade pour les excellents soins donnés à notre mère.
