Ceasar Van De Kerckhove
After a courageous battle with cancer it is with heavy hearts we announce our loving father, Ceasar Van De Kerckhove passed away at the age of 85 years at the Lorne Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 13, 2009.
Ceasar leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his loving memory his children: Geraldine (Lynn) Campbell, Doreen Geirnaert, Garry (Irene) Van De Kerckhove, Lorraine (Rene) Roels and Larry Van De Kerckhove; his grandchildren: Tracy (Curtis) Plaitin, Grant (Loretta) Campbell and Travis Campbell, Lianne (Dan) Talbot, Daniel (Rachel) Geirnaert, Nadine (Daniel) Maheu and Marc Geirnaert, Stacey and Kristel Van De Kerckhove, Cory (Lindsey) Roels, Geoffrey (Amanda) Roels, Joshua (Sheena) Roels and Tyler Roels (Stephanie McConnell); great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Colby and Coltyn Plaitin, Sylena, James, Sierra, Katrina Campbell, Matthew and Erica Talbot, Ryan, Eric and Liam Geirnaert, Nathalie and Michelle Maheu, Aaron, Ethan and Zaden Roels. Also left to mourn are his brothers: Oscar (Marie) Van De Kerckhove and George (Doreen) Van De Kerckhove; in-laws: Rose Van De Kerckhove and Alice Van De Kerckhove, Dolores Timmerman, Andre (Evelyn) Timmerman as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Emelda, their son Gerard, his parents Theophiel and Marguerite Van De Kerckhove; his brothers: Gerard, Albert, Lorne and Richard Van De Kerckhove and by one son-in-law Antoine Geirnaert.
Ceasar was born in Swan Lake, MB on November 16, 1923. He attended St. Michel’s School. He married Emelda Timmerman on November 12, 1945 and farmed in Swan Lake and raised five children.
He had a passion for farming and horses. He put the crops in for the last 76 years and enjoyed every minute of it. He also showed horses for many years. He always said “The good Lord would take care of us,” enabling them to get in the crops. He loved to talk about the history of this country and remembered the facts well.
The children, grandchildren, friends and family will always remember the fun times playing bien and joking around.
Dad you fought long and hard but it was unfortunate
you had to leave us.
You have touched a lot of people’s lives and we will miss your
contagious smile and laughter.
We love you, Dad!
Prayers will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home in Notre Dame de Lourdes on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 7:30p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, MB on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Father Francis Eworo officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Lorne Memorial Palliative Care Unit or CancerCare Manitoba.
