With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of George Brandt, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. George passed away, surrounded by love and family, on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake MB. He was just short of his 85 th birthday.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Octaaf and Marguerite, his only sister Madeleine and her husband, Leo Pouteau, and his grandson Darryl Marshall.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Yvette (Hutlet) with whom he would have celebrated his 58 th wedding anniversary on June 15 th and his four daughters and their spouses: Caryl Brandt & Larry Marshall. Brenda & Tom Thomson, Linda Brandt & Kevin Doherty, and Monique Brandt & Brian Kozak.

George also leaves behind his grandchildren: Rochelle Marshall, Tara and Erin Thomson, and Bonita Brandt and his great grandson Marshall Brandt. He will also be missed by his sister's children, Gloria Frey, Dennis Pouteau and Garnet Pouteau and his Aunt Jay (Julienne Mestdagh) Gillis.

On Yvette's side of the family, George was predeceased by her parents Auguste & Victorine (Malo) Hutlet, and his sisters and brothers-in-law: Albertine & Yves Lecocq, Augustine & Leonide Barsalou, Adrien and Bibiane (Girardin) Hutlet, Celestin Hutlet, Leon VanDamme (Cecile), George VanDamme (Irene), Julia (Vermeire) Hutlet (Lionel), Laurent & Marguerite (Mauws) Hutlet.

He will be fondly remembered by sisters- and brothers-in-law: Clemence Hutlet (Sr. St. Auguste), Magdelena (Rigaux) Hutlet (Celestin), Cecile (Hutlet) VanDamme, Irene (Hutlet) VanDamme, Apolline Hutlet (Sr. Victorine), Etienne & Yvette (Joyal) Hutlet and Lionel Hutlet.

He was also blessed with many friends and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

George was born on May 11, 1921 in Bruxelles MB. He lived in the area all his life, and spent his adult years in Swan Lake first running the local movie theatre and as an electrician for more than 50 years. He was well known in the community, having wired local farms, homes, businesses and many of the major buildings in the area (hospitals, schools, and the Holland monastery). He spent his retirement years enjoying Canadian history and his passion for antique radios - trading and sharing with his many friends in the collecting world.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Swan Lake Catholic Church on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lorne Memorial Hospital.
