Georgina Forbes
(nee Seymour)
Peacefully at her residence on Sunday, October 17, 2010, Mrs. Jean Forbes of Treherne, Manitoba passed away at the age of 77 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter Patti Manness and her partner Serge Charron, son Raymond, daughter-in-law Dawn and grandson Scott (Lacey). She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Forbes in 2002, her parents A.E (Ted) and J.S (Jane) Seymour and by her brother Alex Seymour.
Jean was born in Winnipeg on May 27, 1933 and grew up in Eriksdale, Manitoba. After returning to Winnipeg to earn her Teaching Certificate, she taught for a short time in the Interlake, before moving to Churchill, Manitoba where she met and married Bill Forbes. Together they raised their family “on the go”, moving 14 times in 13 years as Bill’s career in the Canadian Armed Forces dictated.
In 1976 Bill and Jean moved to Rathwell to settle down, and stay put for awhile. Jean loved her time in Rathwell and Treherne, and the many friends and relatives she shared good times with. Golf, Curling, 4-H, The Legion, Crafts Fairs, and the Eastern Star all offered the opportunity to enjoy being a part of her community. Active participation on the golf course and curling rink turned to cheering from her chair in front of the television, and more crafts and cards at the Treherne Legion Lodge as the years went along.
Thank you to all of you who welcomed her into your community, and made her feel so at home.
Funeral Services will be held in the Rathwell Memorial Hall on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Cathy Kinsman officiating. Interment to follow at the Woodlands Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
