Laurent Leon Houde

Peacefully on January 7, 2010 at his home in Elie, Manitoba, Laurent Leon Houde passed away at the age of 78 years.

Remaining to cherish his memories are his wife Yvette (Gervais); children:  Jo-Anne (Bob), Patrick (Jeannette), Roger (Sherry), Sherry-Lynn (Norbert) and Rachel (Mike);  grandchildren:  Kevin (Erica), Jason, Nichelle, Stephanie, Dustin, Kelsey, Kyle, Janelle and Tyler; honorary grandchildren:  Will (Ash), Clint (Alicia); and seven honorary great-grandchildren.  He also leaves to cherish his memories his sisters Gertie Johnson and Genieve Fast (John); brothers-in-law Omer Rivard and Rene Girard; sisters-in-law Maureen Houde and Estelle Beaudette, nieces and nephews.  Dad was predeceased by his infant children Brian and Marie and his granddaughter Bonnie, his parents Alphonse and Gladys (nee Picard), brothers:  Maurice, Walter, Maurice, Harold, Robert; sisters Carol and Bernice; brother-in-law Johnny Johnson.

Dad was born July 25, 1931 in St. Eustache, MB. where he grew up and farmed his entire life until he retired in 1980.  Although Dad may have stopped farming, he never stopped working in his shop and hunting at every opportunity.

Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 15, 2010 with viewing at 12 noon followed by Mass at 1:00 pm in the St. Eustache Roman Catholic Church with Father Paul J. Tinguely presiding.  Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Eustache Cemetery Fund, C/O Elie Rectory (Diane Allard), Elie, MB  R0H 0H0.
