Adrien Wenceslas Doyon
Peacefully, Adrien passed away on May 20, 2007 at the Baldur Personal Care Home at the age of 93 years.
Adrien will be sadly missed by his children: Daniel (Rita) Doyon of Holland, Lucille (Ken) DeBaets of Baldur, Anita DeBaets (Frank Janzen) of Mather and Angela Willemen of Swan Lake; grandchildren: Chris (Lori) Doyon, Natalie (Mark) Redekop, Monica (Lester) Pugh, Terry (Tammy) DeBaets, Reynold DeBaets, Lynne (Dirk) Optland, Sheila DeBaets (Jim Bird), Lionel (Michelle) DeBaets, Cathy (Bill) Thiessen, Nico (Darlene) Willemen, Kim (Brenden) Kaminsky, Kelly Willemen (Nadine Vaillencourt); great-grandchildren: Mathew and Megan Doyon, Andrew and Devin DeBaets, Samantha and Riley Optland, Cassandra and Morgan DeBaets, Alex, Mackenzie, Tyler, Delaney and Kirsten Willemen, Spencer and Alyssa Kaminsky, and Danik Willemen-Vaillencourt. He also leaves to cherish his memory one sister Laurette Hilhorst and one sister-in-law Madeleine Hilhorst and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Greta in 1985; his parents: Joesphat Doyon and Lucie (Lombaert); his sisters: Yvonne (Camille Godard)(George D’hont) and Cecile (Albert DePape); sisters-in-laws: Sr Aloysius, Mary (Pete Nass); brothers-in-law: Jan Hilhorst, Tony Hilhorst, Joe Hilhorst, William Hilhorst, Bert (Emily) Hilhorst.
Adrien was born on November 22, 1913 in Bruxelles, MB. He attended St. Marie school and Swan Lake college. As a small boy he would stand on soft drink boxes so he would be able to play pool. He also enjoyed baseball and hockey. In 1938 he met Greta Hilhorst and were married April 15, 1941. They settled on the former Frank Kergan farm. In 1959, Adrien began driving school bus, which he continued to do for twenty years. In 1971 he was elected reeve of the R.M of Lorne, a position he held until 1983. In July 1986, following the death of his wife Greta, Adrien moved to Winnipeg, where he lived until October of 2000, when he moved to the Personal Care Home in Baldur, MB. Throughout his life, Adrien enjoyed people, travelling, pool and dancing.
Prayers will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Bruxelles Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Father Mario de Jesus Vahos Mesa officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
