Alice Eva Tanguay
(née Girard)
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Alice Tanguay announces the passing of our beloved mother, Mémère, and great-grandmother on January 11, 2016 at the age of 93.
Mom was born in Benard, Manitoba on December 30, 1922 to Adélard Girard and Maximée Bilodeau. She was the youngest of sixteen children. In 1944, she married Aurèle Tanguay who predeceased her in 1984.
She is survived by five children: Shirley Sylvestre (Roger), Gerald (Estelle), Norbert (Carole), Raymond and Louis (Elaine) as well as nine grandchildren: Lise Sylvestre (Michael), Monique Pedersen (Dennis), Jason Tanguay (Sherra), Jennifer Rinaldi (Tony), Cory Tanguay (Bobbi), Kristy Tanguay (Leland), Cale Tanguay (Gen), Nolan and Eric Tanguay. Mom was extremely proud of her seven great-grandchildren: Owen and Brendan Pedersen, Gabriella Rinaldi, Issac Torres, Isabella Tanguay, Austin and Melissa Tanguay-Whitford. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law Yvonne Girard, Laura Hanna and Viola Dufresne as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was a quiet lady who never sought to be the centre of attention. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Jets, the Blue Jays and curling. She loved a good game of cards with the ladies at the Cartier Manor where she resided since 2001. She was very fond of Chinese food and cheeseburgers from Nick`s Inn. She was happiest when surrounded by family.
Prayers and eulogy will take place on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of her Life at 11 a.m. at the St. Eustache Roman Catholic Church with Father Michel Nault officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Eustache Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.
