Amelia Savannah Hamel Hampton
It is with immeasurable sadness that the family of Amelia Savannah Hamel Hampton announce her sudden passing on July 11, 2024, at the age of 32.
Amelia was the beloved daughter of Charlene and Keith Hampton, granddaughter to Connie Hampton, niece of Pat (Moe), Colette (Bob), Lise, and Lori (Ian), and cousin to Chantal (Richard), Melanie, and Stephanie (Jude). She was dearly missed by her late grandparents, Martin and Simone Hamel, and Brian Hampton, as well as her uncle, Bob Landry.
On the fifth of January in 1992, Amelia was born with a fighting spirit, and despite the challenges posed by Cerebral Palsy, she navigated life with determination, perseverance, and a rich sense of humour.
She had a vibrant spirit and it opened up doors to many unique opportunities including being featured on a billboard for the United Way, meeting Princess Anne through a horseback riding program, and proudly carrying the Olympic flame as a torchbearer in 2010.
Amy was a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities. Her important legal action against the government led to the creation of a pilot program aimed at enhancing services for those with complex medical needs.
Her love for animals, especially for her dog Mr. Bean, was profound and we find comfort in the thought of them being reunited together, forever.
Amelia’s life epitomized compassion, resilience, and a dedication to improving the lives of others. Her absence leaves a profound void that will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg, MB on Monday, July 29 at 5 pm. Anyone who would like to share a memory will be invited to do so.
