It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather (Papi), Mr. André Bazin of St. Claude, Manitoba on Monday, August 1, 2011, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 80 years.

André leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife Odette (née Carel); four children: Robert (Brigette), Gerald (Sharon), Richard (Cheryl) and Ronald (Gisèle); nine grandchildren: Paul (Jillane), Eric, Nicole, Carolyn, Chantal, David, Alex, Danica and Bréanne. He also leave to mourn four sisters: Denise (Roger) Pittet, Renée Delaquis, Odile Badiou, Annette (Robert) Deleurme and Aline (Russ) Preston; one brother Raymond (Vivian) Bazin; one brother-in-law Lionel Badiou; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mercedes (née Lafrenière); one sister Suzanne Badiou; and by two brothers-in-law Raymond Delaquis and Gerard Badiou.

André was born to a family of 8 children in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. At the age of 13 he attended Collège St. Boniface where he graduated with a diploma in Arts continuing in Dairy Science at the University of Manitoba. An avid athlete in baseball and hockey, he had the opportunity to join the Montreal Canadians organization instead choosing the family business where he later became the general manager for Beatrice Foods in Manitoba. He married Odette, the love of his life, in 1957 and together they raised 4 sons. André was actively involved in the community of St. Claude which included coaching hockey and participating in numerous committees. He enjoyed many family trips throughout North America instilling the love of travel and camping to his sons and grand children. In retirement, André and Odette traveled extensively, enjoyed golf, curling and time spent with their 9 grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, August 6, 2011. Prayers, Eulogy and Video Tribute at 1:15, Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. followed by interment in the Parish Cemetery with Father Armand LeGal officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to the St. Claude Wellness Centre, Box 334, St. Claude, MB R0G 1Z0.

The family would like to thank the many health care practioners who took such gracious care of Dad. In particular, Doctors Ade and Johnston, Nurses Ximena and Jennifer and all the nurses in the chemo room at Cancercare Manitoba. More recently Dad received such compassionate care from the staff at ward E5 in the St. Boniface Hospital and from all the dedicated nurses, aides and volunteers at Grace Hospice. You are all angels in your care and kindness. Also, our heartfelt appreciation to all the numerous friends and family for their prayers and visits which helped Dad immensely throughout his illness.
