Andre Mabon

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Andre Mabon, at the Notre Dame Foyer on December 8, 2009, at the age of 87 years.

Andre was born on January 22, 1922, and raised on a farm north of Notre Dame de Lourdes. He married Julie (née Chanel) in 1945. They farmed in Treherne and St. Leon, raised a family, retired  together in St. Leon and were inseparable for over 64 years until he entered the Foyer.

Some of Andre’s best times were when he was driving a tractor or a combine on the farm for himself or his sons, gardening or beating his relatives at cards.  Some of the happiest of times were when he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren  and especially his great grandchildren who could always bring a smile to his face, even when he was in physical pain.

Andre will be lovingly remembered by his wife Julie; sons:  Denis (Lorraine) and Normand (Claire); his daughters:  Annette (Rick) and Jocelyne (Garry); nine grandchildren:  Marc, Brian, Christelle, Darcelle, Joel, Nathalie, Melissa, Lise and Philip; eight great grandchildren:  Sarah, Samantha, Nathan, Carson, Danielle, Lexie, Jazmine and Logan.  He is also survived by his two younger brothers:  Jean (Alice) and George (Jeanne); in-laws:  Rolande (Albert) Bazin, Alixe Bosc and Guy (Rolande) Chanel; and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.  He will also be fondly remembered by Rene Deleurme and Jeannette (Albert) Jamault.

He was predeceased by his two older brothers:  Marcel (Juliette) and Pierre; in-laws:  Rene Bosc, Antoine (Beatrice) Chanel, Yvonne (Paul) Ronceray,  Virginie (Albert) Ronceray and Joseph (Marie) Chanel.

The last few months were difficult for Andre but he accepted it all with grace and appreciated all the dedicated care and compassion he received from the Home Care workers, the doctors, and  nurses as well as the staff at the Notre Dame Foyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Notre Dame Foyer, Box 190 Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB, R0G 1M0.

Prayers will be held in the St. Leon Roman Catholic Church on Friday, December 11, 2009, at 8:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing and video tribute will be held prior to the Mass.  Family interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
