Peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, Mrs. Angele Dion formerly of St. Claude, MB passed away at the age of 91 years.

Angèle was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2003. She leaves to mourn two children: Louise (Norman) Tougas and Jean (Joan) Dion, five grandchildren: Patrick (Karri) Tougas, Michelle (Andrew) Murchison, Mario, Mia and Marquie Dion; and two great grandchildren: Alexandre and Jenna Murchison. Also left to mourn are her sisters in law Marie-Blanche (Raymond) Oliviero-Gobin, Isabelle Oliviero, Jeanne Dion and Berthe Dion and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Angèle was born in St. Claude, Manitoba in 1921. She spent the majority of her life in St. Claude. In 1949 she married the love of her life, Robert Dion, whom she lovingly referred to as “mon grand “. They adored country life and raised dairy cattle for over 45 years. In 1997 they retired and moved to the village of St. Claude. In 2004, one year after the death of her husband, Angèle moved to Thunder Bay to reside with her daughter Louise and son in law Norman. She was welcomed with open arms and provided with a home filled with love and excellent care. In 2010, she took up residence at the Betthami Nursing Home where she enjoyed her last remaining years. She always spoke fondly of the staff and friends that she had made at the residence. She enjoyed taking part in the activities provided by the residence and especially enjoyed assisting those who were less able than her. She was in charge of handing out napkins and bibs to all the residence. This gave her the chance to chat with all the residence while doing so.

Angèle had a deep faith. She was a very generous person and would always be willing to help out in any way she could. She looked forward to spending time with friends, neighbors, relatives and especially “ses petits enfants”. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spent many hours volunteering her time at the skating rink.

Funeral Services will be held in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Memorial Service at 10:30, Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. followed by interment in the Parish Cemetery with Father Marcel Carrière officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Claude/Haywood Wellness Centre.
