Antoine Joseph Lafreniere
February 14, 1912 - February 16, 2003
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Antoine at the age of 91 years.
Left to mourn his passing are his 6 children: Cecil and Janine Lafreniere of St. Anne, MB; Danielle and Jim Henderson of Fernie B.C.; Carole Privé of Castlegar B.C.; Geralda Dooley of Vancouver B.C.; Maureen and Ken Huzel of Hadashville MB; Darlene and Roland Marion of Winnipeg, MB; and Guy and Cathy Lafreniere of St. Leon, MB. He will also be missed by his 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, his brother-in-law Bernard and Odile Martel, sister-in-law Clara Lafreniere and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Antoine was predeceased by his wife Flore (nee Martel), his son Gerald and by 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
Antoine (Tony as everyone knew him) was born on the family farm in St. Leon and enjoyed farming throughout his long life. He enjoyed an occasional game of cards. He enjoyed life to the fullest spending time with family and friends as much as possible. He moved from the farm at the age of 78 to the manor in Somerset. He was often seen going for coffee with friends and having fun playing games of chance. He will be sadly missed.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Laurin, Paul Lafreniere, Darcy Lafreniere, Ricki Lafreniere, Michael Huzel and Gregory Huzel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Leon Roman Catholic Church on Saturday February 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Internment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Father Celestin Malengu Mubaya officiating.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Tony may be made to the Cancer Society.
