Arthur Cameron
“Ka Ge Dung” - First Thunder
September 27, 1947 - April 5, 2012
It is with great sadness that the Cameron family announces that their brother Arthur Cameron passed on to the Spirit World on April 5, 2012.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memory his children Rodney (Chelsea), Tamara (Daniel), Tyler (Kristen) and grandchildren Jonathan, Reign, Star; siblings; Ralph (Dorothy), Fran (Gary), Eric, Germaine, Carolynn (Dwayne), Virginia (Ivan), Brent and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Arthur was predeceased by his both his parents Tony and Alexandra, sisters Denise, Bernice and Patricia; brothers Leslie and Jerome, nieces and nephews, Randy, Nathan, Lesley, Shannon and Cara.
Arthur excelled in hockey as a center and forward. During his heyday, he played for the Brandon Friendship Center, Swan Lake Reserve, Pilot Mound and the Selkirk Steelers. Arthur’s passion was carpentry, working for many years with Powell Construction and in his home community.
Always being cheeky and sassy with his nieces and nephews who will remember his banter forever. Also, his buddies from the “Class of 47” - Cecil Cameron, Loyd Cameron, Ricky Cameron and Bobby Martin, many a story of their antics.
Arthur left Portage Residential School to come home to help his family and also take care of his siblings who were always nearby forever. Many of his nieces and nephews he baby sat, the ultimate caregiver. Many trailed after him as he set and checked his snares. Arthur was guided by the teachings of his Grandfather Assiniboine, and maintained his ceremony with his Spirit Brothers, the Buffalo and the Sundance.
Traditional Wake Service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the Swan Lake First Nation Community Hall. Traditional Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 Commencing with the Feast at 12 p.m. followed by interment at the Indian Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Michael Desjarlais, Lionel Cameron, Patrick McKinney, Bruce Martin, Dallys Cameron and Braden Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers are Cecil and Loyd Cameron and Uncle Don.
The Family would like to thank to Dr. Currie, Dr. Woelk and the nurses and staff at Rock Lake Personal Care Home, nurses on 2nd floor, Boundary Trails Health Center, and Auntie Elsie for keeping a watchful eye when we couldn’t be there.
