Berthe was born into a family of 12 children in Elie, Manitoba. At the age of 15 years, Berthe was left to raise her siblings because of the sudden passing of her mother. She was admired by all that knew her for her hard work and dedication, not only by family but all who loved her and often called upon her for help and advice. Berthe assisted in many groups and organizations in Elie, such as the church, community club and the 4-H group. But Berthe will always be known for her talent as a seamstress. Berthe raised two families in her lifetime, both of which she loved and cared for and continued that care when she watched over her grandchildren.
After suffering a severe stroke in 1993, Berthe lived 15 years in the Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home where she was tenderly taken care of by many dedicated nursing staff who grew to love her and deeply respect her. A special note is to be mentioned to three long-time friends who would visit every week during her 15 years at the home, Claire, Irene and Jeanne.
A funeral mass celebrating her life will take place at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Elie, Mb. at 2:30 pm on Thursday, December 18th, 2008, prayers will be held before the service at 2:00 pm. Msgr. Comeault and Father Bernardin officiating.
