Brenda Lippens

October 17, 1960 — January 14, 2026

The Lippens family is very sad to announce the passing of our precious Mom and dear wife, Brenda Lippens, age 65. Brenda passed away on January 14th, 2026 at Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by her loved ones. With a deep desire to stay with her family, Brenda fought a long hard battle against Acute Myeloid Leukemia with grace, never complaining about all she endured.

Brenda grew up on a farm outside of Treherne, alongside her 5 siblings. She enjoyed exploring the countryside by horseback and being in nature. Brenda married her beloved husband Michael Lippens on September 28, 1985 and from there began her life as a wife and dairy farmer. A year later Brenda and Michael welcomed their first child, Lindsey, on December 2, 1986. They welcomed their second child Leanne on July 17, 1988, and their third child Lucinda on July 17, 1991. Brenda and Michael worked hard, giving their 3 daughters a magical childhood on the farm full of love and wonderful memories. In 2007, Brenda and Michael opened their home to foster three children, and over the years welcomed many more. Brenda went above and beyond to ensure every child that came through her doors felt valued and safe. Our beloved Thomas still resides in their home.

Brenda was selfless and kind-hearted, caring for everyone else above herself until her very last day. Brenda and Michael moved to Winnipeg to follow their daughters and be close to their grandchildren in 2017. Brenda was an involved loving grandparent who delighted in her grandchildren. Brenda will be remembered by her loved ones for the way she fiercely protected and advocated for her family, her love for all animals - especially her dogs and birds, the joy she took in thrifting for treasures to give her family, and how she could be found all summer long working in her yard with her flowers and enjoying her deck.

Brenda was predeceased by her loving father George VanDerVennet, brother Rene VanDerVennet and sister Doris Bieber. Brenda’s surviving family includes her mother Terry VanDerVennet, sister Kelli (Ken) Stasiuk, and brothers Brian and Keith VanDerVennet. She is survived by husband Michael Lippens, daughters Lindsey and Leanne Lippens and Lucinda (Troy) Alarie, grandchildren Jordyn, Luke, Haylee and Scarlett, dear goddaughter Jacqueline, as well as beloved nephews and nieces.
