Célestin Grenier

September 1, 1937 - May 7, 2015

With his family by his side, a loving husband, father, grandfather and always a ‘farmer at heart’ picked a rainy day in May seeding season to answer God’s call to sow heaven’s fields. Célestin Grenier was born on September 1, 1937 near St. Léon, MB. He married Eileen Van Cauwenberghe on October 17, 1964 and together they raised three sons: Marc, Allen and Patrick.

Enjoying farming for all of his life and even during retirement when he would ‘drive around to see the crops’, Célestin also enjoyed visiting with people, playing cards and traveling. He loved spending time with his family and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. As in many small towns, Célestin participated in various community organizations, including the Hall/Arena Committee, la Caisse populaire Ltée and the Knights of Columbus to mention a few.

He is predeceased by his parents, Alcide and Berthe (Labossière) Grenier and four infant siblings as well as his parents-in-law, Henry and Elodie (Buydens) D’Hont and his brother-in-law Albert Yackel.

Célestin leaves many to sow the seeds of eternal family love who will miss him each and every day. His loving wife, Eileen (Van Cauwenberghe) Grenier and their three sons Marc (Angela Orchard) Grenier of St. Léon, Allen (Lorraine Badiou) Grenier of St. Léon and Patrick (Chantal Delaquis) Grenier of Notre Dame de Lourdes as well as ten grandchildren: Branson Grenier; Kristine, Colin, and Kevin Grenier; Deven, Travis, Brayden, Jaden, Kaylee Grenier and Damian Clouston. He is also survived by his sister Lorraine (Adrien) Lesage and brothers Tony (Cécile Thevenot) Grenier as well as Paul (Noreen Desmet) Grenier and in-laws Margaret Yackel, George & Lorette Van Cauwenberghe, George & Doreen Van De Kerckhove, and Albert & Della Van Cauwenberghe.

Funeral services will be held in the St. Leon Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, May 14, 2015. Prayers, eulogy and video tribute at 1:30, followed by Funeral Mass at 2 p.m. with Father Armand Le Gal officiating. Interment will take at the St. Leon Parish Cemetery at a later date.
