Peacefully at his residence on Saturday September 1, 1984, after a lengthy struggle with cancer, Mr. Clement Adam of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away at the age of 62 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 37 years, Mary (nee Marginet), 5 children: Lorraine and husband Pierre Collet of Notre Dame, Reg and wife Barb of Winnipeg, George and wife Pat of Treherne, Alvin and wife Monique of Notre Dame, Charlotte Adam also of Notre Dame, and 5 grand-children: Derek, Jeffrey, Jolene, Rachel, and Nolan. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother Clementine (nee Godard), his mother-in-law Louise Marginet (nee Hutlet), 2 brothers: Lucien and wife Gerarda, Edward and wife Mona, one sister Elsie and husband Don Smith, one brother-in-law Marcel DeGraeve, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Camille in 1977, one sister Claire DeGraeve in 1976, and by his father-in-law Alberic Marginet in 1982.
Clem was born November 13, 1921 at Bruxelles, Manitoba. As a youngster he helped on the family farm and attended the Richmond Hill School near Cypress River. On April 15, 1947 he married Marie-Louise Marginet, and together they raised 5 children. Throughout his life, he had various occupations but was especially proud of farming, the Transfer Business, Manitoba Highways, and Scharff’s Funeral Home. In 1974, Clement graduated as an Embalmer and Funeral Director, and started Adam’s Funeral Home and Ambulance Service, of which he was very proud, and continued successfully until his passing. Clem was an avid sports fan, and throughout his life enjoyed playing pool, bowling, curling, cards, trapping and hunting. He also loved and cherished his grand-children who will miss him very much. He will be sadly missed by all his family and many, many friends.
Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 4, 1984 at 2 p.m., with Father Joseph Choiselat officiating. Interment followed in the Notre Dame Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
