Denis Lacroix

January 31, 1936 - September 16, 2009

After a courageous battle with cancer, the family of Denis Lacroix regrets to announce his passing on September 16, 2009 at the Boundary Trails Hospital.

Dad leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 51 years, Yvonne (Pilloud); daughter Lynne (Rénald), sons Gilbert (Yvette), Raymond (Jocelyne) and Michel (Wendy). He also leaves to mourn his twin brother Guy (Agnes).

Also bringing Grand-père much pride and joy were his ten grandchildren: Stéphane, Nicolas, Catherine, Paul, Daniel, Rosanne, Mario, Nicole, Kurtis and Tyson. Also special nieces Marilyn (Mark) and Jacqueline (Lucien).

He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Germaine and a close uncle Claude.

Denis was born at Saint Boniface, Manitoba on January 31,1936. He lived in Saint-Claude all his life. He graduated with his B.A. in 1968 and finished his B. ED. in 1972 while farming and raising his family.

Denis was an exceptional person - intelligent, hard working, friendly and witty. He touched many students’ lives during his 35 years of teaching.

Farming was also one of his great passions in life and always took great pride in it. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and hunting with his sons and grandsons.

Another favourite pastime was spent at hockey arenas cheering on his grandsons at hockey and broomball and also at the numerous soccer and football fields. Grand-père was so proud of them all.

Dad was the binding force and anchor of his family and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, September 19, 2009. Video Tribute at 9:45, Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment in the Parish Cemetery with Father Marcel Carrière officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
