Peacefully, after a short battle with brain cancer, Denis Poirier of Haywood succumbed to his illness on Wednesday, November 27 at the St. Claude Health Centre at the age of 55.
Denis leaves to mourn his wife of 33 years, Linda (née Cewick) and their two sons, Stefan and Eric. He also leaves his mother Rhéa Poirier and siblings, Annette (Rick), René (Sheila), Roger (Sherry), Lorraine (Jamie), Marie (Glenn), his mother-in-law Minnie Cewick, brother-in-law Gerry (Linda) Cewick and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He will be also sadly missed by his work family at Ellwood McRorie. He was predeceased by his father Omer Poirier, and his father-in-law Joe Cewick.
Denis was an honest man, who had a very strong work ethic. He gave 100% to his work and to help others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, even as he got sicker. Denis loved a challenge – the hotter the weather, the bigger the pour, the more difficult the project, he faced it with his infectious laugh and his “no such thing as good enough” attitude.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be held in St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Haywood on Saturday, November 30, 2013. Memorial Service at 1:30 pm, Funeral Mass at 2 pm and Interment in the Parish Cemetery with Father Armand Le Gal officiating.
