Dolores Timmerman

April 9, 1921 — August 9, 2025

Peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, Dolores (née Carrière) Timmerman passed away at the lovely age of 104 years. Mom was born on April 9, 1921 near Elie, MB.

Dolores is lovingly remembered by her children, Edmond, Leo (Jackie), Moe (Judy) and Gisèle (Gerry) as well as her grandchildren, Ginette (Mike), Daniel (Rhonda), Andrée (Drew), Robert (Natasha), Lise (Jeff) and Marc (Val) and her eleven great-grandchildren.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Rene Timmerman (1993), her mother Dorilda and father John Carrière, her siblings, Huguette (George) Cloutier, Olive (Mom’s twin sister) (Lucien) Girard, Simone (Florent) Chartier, Cecile (Roland) Fillion, in-laws, Emelda (Ceasar) Van De Kerckhove and Andre (Evelyn) Timmerman.

Mom grew up on a farm near Elie, MB with her parents and siblings. They all worked hard and at times took the train to Winnipeg. What a treat! Mom shared many fond memories related to trains and hitching up the horses and taking them to town with her sisters.

Mom married Rene Timmerman on July 17, 1946 and moved to Norquay View Farms. They both enjoyed working on the farm and Mom managed a teaching career as well. She taught many children throughout the years and enjoyed her time spent with them.

Travelling was truly a joy for her as she made many wonderful memories going on trips with sisters, travelling on tours or visits to Palm Springs. There were a few trips with Mom and Gisele, enjoying their time together.

It was always a special occasion for Mom when she could spend quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mom’s life spanned 104 years and in that time she saw numerous changes to life in general. Throughout this time, Mom’s famous words of wisdom “Life is short, enjoy it while you can!” still remain true.

We were fortunate to have you with us all these years. Thank-you for being you and teaching us precious life lessons.

Love and hugs, Mom!

Heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. The staff provided Mom with exceptional and compassionate care. We knew she was in good hands and so appreciated their continued communication. Also, to Villa Aulneau, where Mom enjoyed her time there with great people. Thank you!
