Donalda passed quietly in her sleep with loved ones close in spirit on December 21, 2025, following a short battle with cancer. She leaves behind a life story shaped by challenge, growth, resilience, and a heart that softened deeply through family and time.
Her life journey was complex, marked by difficult seasons and meaningful change. Through it all, she carried a strength that was quietly earned and a capacity for care that revealed itself in thoughtful, consistent ways.
Donalda was born on the Lowton family farm in Ninette, Manitoba. Later in life, she made her home in Belmont, Manitoba, settling in her mother Anne Lowton’s home — lovingly known as “Granny Annie’s” — a place filled with memories and comfort.
She was the mother of Deborah, William (Falenne), and Thomas (Adina). As life unfolded, she grew into a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, showing deep love for her family. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Cody (Natasha), Rebecca, Courtney (Dean), Brett (Maria), Saphira, Nicole, Cory (Molly), Melanie (Brandon), Jennifer, and Emily; as well as her many great-grandchildren.
Distance was never a barrier to her love. She followed the roads across provinces and prairies, always finding her way to her grandchildren. Wherever life had taken them, she made the trip.
She never missed a birthday or special occasion, and her family could always count on a card arriving in the mail — a simple but meaningful reminder that they were always in her thoughts.
She loved bingo and baseball and was a devoted Toronto Blue Jays fan. Even while in the hospital, she could be counted on to ask about the World Series — a small but fitting reflection of her enduring spirit and lifelong love of the game. She was also a diehard Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and she was blessed to see them win the Grey Cup one last time.
Donalda was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Annie Lowton; her brother, Ed Lowton; and her sister, Wanda Stinn.
Her life was not without hardship, but it was also marked by perseverance, growth, and care. She will be remembered for her resilience, her thoughtfulness, and the place she holds in her family’s story.
“Life isn’t defined by its hardest moments, but by the love we find and give along the way.”
This is not goodbye, this is, I'll see you when I see you.
As per Donalda's request, there will be no funeral.
