Peacefully at the Swan Lake Hospital on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, Edna Esquash of Swan Lake First Nation, passed away at the age of 86 years.

Edna leaves to mourn her passing, her children; daughters Gloria (James), Audrey (Fred), Karen: sons Richard and Jeff (Debbie); her brother Joe Tanner and Sister Emma; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and numerous relatives.

She was predeceased by her first husband George Esquash and her second husband Sven Knudsen; parents Charles Tanner and Ellen (nee McKinney), great-grandson Tyler Meeches; brothers William, Archie and Rupert; sisters Gladys, Eliza, Alice, Jean and Georgaleen.

A Traditional Wake will be held at the Swan Lake First Nation Community Hall on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 4 p.m. A Traditional Funeral Services will follow on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Interment in the Indian Springs Cemetery. Elder Dennis Shannacappo will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Elmer Soldier, Darren Soldier, Derek Soldier, Norman Soldier, Dwayne Soldier and Don Daniels.  Flower Bearers will be Christine Soldier, Madelyn Soldier, Brittany McKinney, Ellen Ray Soldier and Alison Cameron.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all friends and family.
