Peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Saturday, July 7, 2012, Mrs. Emilie Moreau of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away at the age of 99 years.
She will be sadly missed by her step son Léo (Lynn) Moreau of Duncan, BC, and son Fred Lemieux of Winnipeg, grandchildren: Andrew, Christie and Laura, great grandchildren: Natalie, Ryder, Taylor and Angele. Also left to mourn is her sister in law Germaine from Kelowna, BC and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband André, her parents Francois and Maria, two sisters Marie Rose and Angele, four brothers Joseph, Alphonse, Louis and Philippe and by many brothers and sisters in law.
Emilie worked as a housekeeper for Mrs. Lemieux in Cardinal in 1930. Her mother passed away at a young age and so she and her siblings were raised by her grandmother in Ste. Amelie, Manitoba.
On December 30, 1950 she married André Moreau and together they lived in St. Boniface with son Léo, where she worked at St. Joseph’s Academy with the nuns and André worked at Weststeel Rosco. Then they decided to move to out west where they both worked at K Mart doing night cleaning. After years there they decided to change jobs and work at the Carriage House. As they got older they decided to move back to Manitoba. They lived in St. Leon for a number of years before moving to the Manor in Notre Dame. Emilie moved into the Foyer in 2010.
André and Emilie and their little dog Tipi went on many trips to Saskatchewan and British Columbia over the years. Emilie loved to crochet and garden, she always had a smile on her face and she enjoyed hearing about her grandchildren, family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Father Léon Mubikayi officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
