Just short of her 99th birthday, with her family around her, Florence (Flo) Dandenault, passed away peacefully at the De Salaberry District Health Centre on January 17, 2026.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Colette (Roger) Bérard, Paul (Debbie) Dandenault, Jeanne Choo-Yin and Shelley (Raymond) Curé; her grandchildren Katrina (Benji), Milaine (David), Chelsée (Thomas) and Aidan (Angela), Yemaya, Pierre (Crystal), Angela, as well as her great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Andrée, Sacha and Loup. She also leaves to mourn sisters in law, Rita Lavergne and Yvette Shaw as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Flo was predeceased by her husband Roger Dandenault (1999), her parents Fred and Alma Ford, and her siblings: Kathleen Anderson, Margaret Ford, Madeleine Hicks, Fred Ford, and Edward Ford; as well as her in-laws Marie Joyal, Gilbert, Lucien and Normand Dandenault.
While mom was short in stature, she was mighty when it came to loving her family and to caring for others. A nurse for 46 years, Director of Nursing at the hospital in St. Pierre-Jolys for more than half of those years, mom’s commitment to her patients, her staff and the communities she served knew no bounds.
She loved spending time with family, especially the little ones. All the children gravitated toward her, even those who weren’t hers. She was an honorary gramma to many. Her quick wit kept everyone on their toes with smiles on their faces.
In her spare time you could find her tending to her houseplants in the winter and her many flower beds in the summer. Her nurturing extended beyond greenery; her pets, the injured wild birds and any other furry critters could always count on a snack and a quick chat.
We have so many people to thank: Dr. Chris Burnett, the kind medical/nursing staff at the DeSalaberry Hospital, and her special friend Tanya.
Mom, Gramma, and Gramma 2, you have left a huge hole in all of our hearts but we will carry on, confident you are happy and well in heaven tending to the birds, flowers and the animals who need a little love.
