Fr. Norman Schurter OCSO
Peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Monday, August 17, 2015, Fr. Norman Schurter of the Our Lady of the Prairies Trappist Monastery at Holland, Manitoba passed away at the age of 87 years.
Fr. Norman Schurter was born on March 19, 1928 at Chepstow, Ontario. He was ordained to the priesthood December 28, 1981 for the diocese of Keewatin-LePas by the Archbishop Dumouchel O.M.I before joining the Trappists. He made his solemn profession May 1, 2008.
He leaves to mourn his passing his religious family, the Monks of Holland, and several brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held at the Our Lady of the Prairies Monastery on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in the Monastery cemetery.
