d. December 7, 2006

Georgina Mary Lapointe
(née Howson)

Peacefully with her daughter Elaine at her side, Georgina passed away at the St. Claude Pavilion on December 7, 2006 at the age of 84 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard; parents Charles and Antoinette (née Paul); her brothers:  Maurice, Edgar and John; two sister in-laws: Bonnie and Theresa Howson; and by one great-granddaughter Ara Kucharsky.

She will be lovingly remembered by her seven children.  Daughters:  Elaine (Gerald Chatel), Gloria (Martin Kucharsky), Patricia (Edward Wilchek), and Jo-Anne (Geoff Gard); Sons:  Maurice (Pauline Dedieu), Ronald (Marion Irving), and Larry Lapointe.  One sister Clara (Ken Lapointe); brother Leo Howson (Jane Timony); one sister-in-law Viola Howson; and a very special nephew Louis Ouellette (Norma St. Pierre); 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  She also leaves to mourn her memory, many nieces and nephews, friends, relatives, and her very special friend Mary Dubé.

Mom was born on July 20, 1922 at Elm Creek Manitoba.  At age 14 she moved to Haywood with her father and siblings.  She married Richard Lapointe on November 8, 1939.  Richard suffered a heart attack and passed away in 1971, leaving her to raise four children still at home.

She worked most of her life in Haywood as Grocery Manager for Co-op and retired in 1985.  Mom was a hard working person who always put her family ahead of herself.  She treasured family gatherings and loved reminiscing about the good old days.  Her Sunday dinner was a highlight in our lives.  The little house she lived in was always filled with joy, love and a shoulder to cry on.  In her younger days she enjoyed singing, dancing and playing bingo.

We will always keep her in our hearts and always have her memories and values that she instilled in each of us.  She was a lady of courage and determination always teaching us to never give up.

With respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Haywood Roman Catholic Church on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 1:30 with Father Célestin Malengu Mubaya officiating.  Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

We will be forever grateful to Dr. Viens and the caring, compassionate staff at the St. Claude Pavilion.

In lieu of flowers donations in Mom's memory may be made to the St. Claude Pavilion, St. Claude MB R0G 1Z0
