Henri Swennen

Henri Swennen of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 93 years.

Henri leaves to mourn his passing eight children, Jean (Suzanne) Swennen, Diane Herman, Lise Kawtzman (Peter), Gilles Swennen (Janet), Louis Swennen, Dennis Swennen, Denise Swennen and Michel (Belinda) Swennen; 12 grandchildren, Joel (Cor), Jeannine, Jonathan (Jennifer), Christina (Sam), Melissa, Jamie, Stephanie (Brad), Nakita (John), Natashia, Gilliane, Henri, Christopher (Vickie), Sarah (Bob) and Mitchell (Amanda); 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Henri was predeceased by his beloved wife Beatrice in 2018.

A private family committal service will be held at the Notre Dame Parish Cemetery on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at www.afh.ca

Dad was born in Belgium on December 6, 1931. He came to Canada by ship with his parents and some siblings in 1951 to Québec. There he met Beatrice, and they were married on April 30, 1955. They had eight children. Dad did different jobs in his lifetime and saw many places. He was trained to be a blacksmith which he enjoyed doing when he could. He also worked a lot with different animals, cows, pigs and his wild boar farm. In his later years, he enjoyed visiting with family and friends and going for coffee. He will be greatly missed by his family and coffee friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Notre Dame Foyer and to the Homecare Workers for all the care and compassion Henri has received.
