Mom was born in Deerhorn, MB on April 30, 1918. The family relocated to an area northwest of Notre Dame de Lourdes in the mid-1920’s. In her late teens she worked at several homes in the Rathwell, Notre Dame and Treherne districts doing various household tasks. Mom and Dad were married on May 23, 1938. They farmed southwest of Notre Dame until 1949. During these years Lorraine, Jeannette and Solange were born. Bertrand and Jacqueline were born after the family moved in 1949 to the present day farm south of Treherne.
Throughout her life on the farm you would often see mom and dad working alongside each other. Mom enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and sewing; she was a fantastic and creative seamstress, but her favourite pastime was tending to her garden and flower beds. Mom took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens and spent many hours preparing preserves for her family to enjoy. She would enter many of her baking and preserves at the local fairs. Mom was also a long time member of the CWL. Mom enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and listening to old time music. She was a great keeper of memorabilia and organizing photographs. Mom took pride in everything she did. She enjoyed decorating, especially at Christmas time. Her best “Budd” was the family pet dog. In the later years you would always see the two of them walking together down the road. We always wondered which one was having the most fun.
Mom was a huge baseball fan. In the early fifties the family would drive to Carman to take in a game. Even just two years ago at the age of 92 she attended a Winnipeg Goldeyes game. Her spirit and enjoyment of the game never went away.
Mom had a deep faith in God. She was the centre of our home, family meant everything to mom. She was a very kind, generous person and always willing to give a helping hand. Even in the later years she always wanted to help but we would say “mom that’s ok, we can manage, you’ve done so much already.” Mom never asked for anything from anyone. She was very appreciative of anything she was given. She was a caring, thoughtful person and had a wonderful sense of humour. Mom was a shining example of living life to the fullest. We will all remember her sparkling blue eyes.
Prayers were held at Adam’s Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21, 2012. Funeral Services were held in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Friday, June 22, 2012 with Father Léon Mubikayi and Father John McKenzie officiating. Followed by interment in the parish cemetery.

One precious to our hearts has gone,
The voice we loved is stilled;
The place made vacant in our hearts,
Can never more be filled.
We will miss you deeply.
