Herbert Sinclair Wilks

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert Sinclair Wilks of Headingley, Manitoba at the Grace Hospital, with his family by his side on Thursday November 17, 2022 at the age of 77.

Herb leaves to mourn his loving wife Pauline (née Hebert) of 54 years, son David of Headingley, Manitoba, two grandchildren Jenny and Mikey Wilks and their mother Kristy MacCulloch, two sisters Sharon Forrest (Dennis) and Doreen Watson, our special Sinclair and Hebert families as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Herb was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Enid Wilks, Granny Ida Sinclair, sisters Carol and Nancy, and brothers-in-law Bryan Watson and Louis Hebert and sister-in-law Renée Hebert.

Herb grew up in Rathwell and settled into many years as a heavy equipment operator beginning with George Fenwick, many projects one being the Winnipeg Floodway. Then he went on and worked many years with Hugh Monroe before starting his own business, Wilks Enterprises and later joined by his son David.

Over the years Herb’s many interests included boating and family lake time, fishing and many trips including the Road Builders conventions.  Of special importance to Herb in later years was time spent with his grandchildren and his two black lab dogs.

Herb made many friends in all walks of life, known for his dry humour and teasing nature.  His memory will be cherished.

The family would like to thank, Dr. M. Elkin and Dr. Hamadami, and the nurses and staff at the Grace General Hospital for the excellent care Herb received.

A Celebration of Life for Herb will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Viewing will be held at Adam’s Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m., followed by the interment will take place at Woodlands Cemetery at 1 p.m., and a service at the Rathwell Memorial Hall at 2 p.m. The service will be available to be viewed via Live Streaming. Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Herb’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
