On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, Ian McKinney passed away at his residence in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 31 years.

Ian leaves to mourn his parents, Dewayne and Tammy; his son Isaiah; his god-son Jordan G-Ian Hansen; his brothers Brent Meleck (Marge), Tyler Meleck, Dwight McKinney (Danielle) and Matthew McKinney (Krissy).  He will also be missed by his aunts and uncles, Lloyd (Linda) McKinney, Larry McKinney, Marlene Esquash, Deana McKinney, Rick Hillier, Rob Hillier, Angie Hillier, Johanne (Germain) Hillier as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents George and Maggie McKinney and John and Sharon Hillier; Aunt Elizabeth McKinney and Uncles John Hillier and Ron Esquash; nephew Gabriel McKinney and niece Sarah McKinney-Murdock; and by two cousins, David McKinney and Blaine McKinney.

A Private Traditional Wake for family and close friends will be held at the Swan Lake First Cultural Centre on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 4 p.m. Traditional Funeral Services will be held at the Swan Lake First Cultural Centre on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 12 p.m. with interment to follow at the Indian Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brent Meleck, Tyler Meleck, Dwight McKinney, Matthew McKinney, Tyson Meleck and Kelvin McKinney.
