Jean Joseph Simoens

Peacefully at the Lorne Memorial Hospital on Thursday, October 22, 2009, Mr. Jean Simoens of Swan Lake, Manitoba, passed away at the age of 81 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing his eight children: Yvonne (Tom) Arnott, Gerald, Denise (Denis) Fortier, Marcel (Naomi), Marie (Scott) Sinclair, Paul (Denise), Paulette (Dan) Mauws and Michel (Jennifer); 20 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and special friend Jessie Wood.

He leaves to mourn eight siblings:  Angeline (Henri) Durand, Alice Chevalier, Rose (Albert) Gillis, Gerard (Ange-Aimée), Norbert (Annis), André (Liane), Denis (Alice), Daniel (Anita) and one brother-in-law Ron Campbell.  Also Gertrude’s family:  Cécile Pallard, Hubert (Deanna), Léandre, Alain, Aline Durand, Robert Fouasse; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jean was predeceased by his wife Gertrude (née Durand) in 1992; his parents Albert and Hélène (née Mangin) Simoens; his sister Lorraine Campbell; daughter in-law Bonnie (née Cochran) Simoens; in-laws:  John Chevalier, Raymond Pallard, Damien Durand, Paul Durand, Thérèse Fouasse and Hélène Durand.

Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in the St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church in Bruxelles, MB on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Father John McKenzie officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
