Jeanne De Ruyck

(nee Deschouwer)

It is with broken hearts and great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of our mother, at Rideau Park Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB.  Surrounded by her loving family, Jeanne was lifted by angels from earth into a bright new world on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at the age of 87 years.

Jeanne will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her five children:  Denise (Denis) Talbot, Valére (Lois), Leonard (Petrice Juryn), Dianne (Miro) Gawinski and Audrey (Brad Nelson); four grandchildren:  Bonnie, Christine (Cory), Steven (Amanda) and Jason (Carly) and four great grandchildren:  Quinton, Madyson, Saydie and Jarod, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was predeceased by her loving husband Remi in 2000, daughters Lorette in 1951 and Doris in 1971, her parents Emile and Valentine (nee Chevalier), brothers Gerard and Marcel, sister Ghislaine (Gerard) and brothers-in-law Gerard Dhont, Raymond De Ruyck (Clara), Charles De Ruyck (Duif) and Father Gerard De Ruyck.

Jeanne was born in the St. Alphonse district on August 1, 1925.  The family then moved to the Bruxelles district where they continued farming.  In 1946, she married her long-time neighbour Remi De Ruyck and lived south of Mariapolis where their seven children were born.  They resided on the farm until 1979 when they retired and moved to Mariapolis.  After Remi’s passing in 2000 she moved to the Swan Lake Manor where she enjoyed the company of friends and playing cards.  In 2011 Jeanne moved to Rideau Park Personal Care Home.

Jeanne had to overcome some misfortune and tragedy in her life-time, but never lost her genuine good-hearted nature.  In times of need, she would be a pillar of strength for her family.  Jeanne was a quiet, kind-hearted woman.  Her life was dedicated to the love she had for her family, home and farm life.  She was never happier than when she was at home with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Jeanne will be dearly missed and remembered by those who knew her.  Everyone enjoyed her sense of humor and quick wit.  She will be fondly remembered as being kind and gentle and always ready to help family, friends and neighbours.

Funeral Services will be held in the Mariapolis Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, August 11, 2012.  Memorial Service at 1:15 p.m. followed by Mass at 2 p.m. with Father Francis Eworo and Father Armand Le Gal officiating.  Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB  R3L 0K6.

Heaven has gained the dearest mother the world could hold.  She will be sorely missed.  Rest in peace dear Mom and Grandma, we will miss you so.  God bless you.
