It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jeanne Dion on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the St. Claude Transitional Care Unit, at the age of 88 years.
Jeanne leaves to mourn her children, Lorraine (René) Rey, Daniel (Annette) Dion, Nicole (Fernand) Comte, and Lynne (David) Bosc; her grandchildren, Daniel (Marlene), Donald, Colin, Natasha (Kevin), Brigitte (Aaron), Catherine (Anthony), Dominic (Stephanie), Melanie (Kyle), Michel, Zacharie, and Maxim (Faith); and her great-grandchildren, Lyla, Haley, Quinn, Thomas, Carson, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Isaiah, Finn, and Cohen.
She is also survived by sister, Odile Le Floch (Denis Jean), and sisters-in-law Thelma Hince and Marie Blanche Olivièro (Raymond Gobin).
She was predeceased by her spouse, Ferdinand Dion (Punch), in 1974; her parents, Dora and Amédée Hince; her parents-in-law, Napoleon and Léa Dion; her brother, Hector Hince; as well as numerous family members and friends.
Mom’s career spanned decades of teaching, starting in Haywood at Seaforth School and at St. Claude School Complex, where she taught Grade 3 for many years. She also worked for Canada Post during weekends and summer holidays.
She loved being home with her flowers and garden. She traveled to see her sister in British Columbia and took trips to Vegas and Mexico. Her time was devoted to camping trips, day trips, family visits, and yearly trips to Clear Lake with relatives. She also enjoyed casino trips with her sister-in-law Isabelle in her retirement. She loved jigsaw puzzles, cards, games, and playing on her iPad. She compiled an extensive book for her children on the Dion/Hince family history. She volunteered for the St. Claude Gazette and St. Claude Gaol.
Her biggest accomplishment in life came after she was widowed at the age of 37 years old. She was faced with raising her four young children on her own with the help of her parents, relatives, and friends.
The family would like to thank the St. Claude TCU staff for their patience and loving care provided to Jeanne during the last 5 months.
