Jeanne was born December 17, 1942 in Treherne, MB, the eldest child of Eugène and Odile Bernard. Jeanne married Albert on September 22, 1962 and from there, they started a dairy and grain farm in Haywood. Mom worked very hard on the farm while raising her children. Grandmère cherished her grandchildren who brought joy and happiness into her life. Mom had a passion for sewing, knitting, quilting, canning, baking and gardening. Her famous cream puffs and puff pastry were family favourites they looked forward to every Christmas. Jeanne was well known as the seamstress in town. She could make and fix anything, from baby quilts to wedding dresses. Jeanne was also a 4-H leader for 29 years, where she enjoyed sharing her talent for sewing and cooking with young 4-Hers. She was an active member of the Quilter’s Guild and created many beautiful and unique pieces of art to gift to family and friends. Her sewing skills were also used to make dresses to send to orphanages throughout Africa, and Angel Dresses for stillborn babies. Her warm and generous character will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr. Viens & staff at the St. Claude Health Centre and Dr. Woelk at Boundary Trails Hospital.
