John Duncan, passed away peacefully at Boundary Trails Health Centre on June 17, 2026 at the age of 89 years.
He will be forever loved by his wife Pauline Duncan.
John was born in Ballymena, Ireland on July 11, 1936. For much of his life, John worked in a world most of us are unfamiliar with, as a prison warden. A role that demanded authority, but it also required a deep understanding of human nature. He carried out that duty with professionalism and integrity throughout his working life.
In 1986, he married Pauline Wainwright, together they began a new chapter of their lives. John and Pauline made the move to Canada, settling in Starbuck, then Carman. When Pauline’s health began to decline and required more care, John moved to Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes to be closer to Pauline. He was a devoted husband, her constant companion, showing a depth of love and patience that inspired everyone who witnessed it. John embraced simplicity in his retirement. He enjoyed going for coffee and visiting and often shared fascinating stories of his younger years. A genuinely kind soul. He enjoyed watching Grand Prix racing on Sundays with Pauline and caring for their beloved cat, Henry.
As per his wishes, no formal service will be held.
