Keith Sparling

December 30, 1952 — November 23, 2025

Keith Sparling, passed away peacefully at the Tiger Hills Health Centre on November 23, 2025 at the age of 72 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Pat Sparling (nee Wray); his children, Jeremy Sparling (Lisa Capar), Allison (Ryan) Swain and Wray (Kim) Sparling; his grandchildren, Edwin, Peter, Anderson, Ella and Everly. He also leaves to mourn his sister Wendy (John) Sememowich; and his in-laws, Jim (Jill) Wray, Lindsey (Ross) Werden, Nancy (Scott) Smart, Murray (Pat) Wray and Cindy (Wayne) Buydens, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Keith was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Gladys (nee Catte) Sparling, and his parents-in-law Garnet and Lynne (nee Anderson) Wray.

Keith grew up in the Treherne and Matchettville areas. Even as a teenager, he started playing guitar, and continued throughout his life, playing in bands such as The Prairie Dust and The Continentals and in church. But to make a living, he got his diploma as a heavy duty mechanic, starting this career at Binne Motors in St. Claude and moving to the John Deere Service Centre when it opened in 1975. He bought his first farmland in 1973 and married Pat on a wintry day in November 1974. As he was able, he farmed with his dad. In 1994, he bought another half section from Ken Turnbull. That same year, he left Nunn's John Deere and built a shop on the farm so he could continue to work as a mechanic in the off-season for farming. He also raised beef cattle.

Keith was well known for his community involvement in the church, scouting, the Chamber of Commerce, the town council, the curling club, the Second Chance Car Museum, and the Run for the Hills marathon committee, but he always found time for his family. He loved camping and being outdoors and a highlight of the last few summers was the long weekend with all of his children and grandchildren camping in their backyard. He enjoyed travelling with friends or just with Pat, and he particularly enjoyed time with his grandchildren. The family vacation to Disney in 2024 to celebrate Keith and Pat's 50th anniversary was a memorable trip for all of us, and was something he had always wanted to do.

Keith will forever be cherished and remembered for his warm smile, his helping hand, and his steady presence.
