Léa Pantel

Surrounded by her family, Léa passed away at the Riverview Health Centre on January 5, 2010 at the age of 55 years.  Léa’s long battle with cancer was fought with quiet determination, courage and dignity.

Left to cherish her memory are her children:  Raymond (Jasmine), Rheal (Kristal) and Lise (Serge) Aquin; her beloved Claude Buors and his children:  Lee, Clint and Fille; sisters:  Norma Rocan (Ron) and Jeannette Greaves (Hugh); numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and co-workers.  Léa was predeceased by her parents Marcel and Imelda (nee Labossiere) Pantel and her brother Normand.

Léa’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends and we will miss her beautiful smile, support, patience, thoughtfulness, positive attitude and ‘joie de vivre’.

Léa’s interests were varied and ranged from gardening, cooking, shopping, travelling, dancing and fishing.  Claude introduced her to ice fishing which quickly became a favourite past-time.

Léa was employed by Manitoba Education, Program and Student Services.  Léa dearly missed the close friends she had while employed there and she appreciated the support and encouragement which they gave her.

Our beloved Léa is now free of pain and her spirit lives on within us.  Léa leaves a huge gap in the lives of all those who loved her.  Léa is forever in our hearts.

“Les larmes sont parfois une réponse inappropriée a la mort.  Quand une vie a été vécue vraiment honnêtement, vraiment avec succès, ou simplement vraiment, la meilleure réponse a la ponctuation de la mort est un sourire.”  Julie Burchill.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Cancer Care and the staff on the 3rd floor of the Riverview Centre for their compassion and care towards Léa.

Respecting Léa’s wishes a private family service will be held at a later date.  Léa will be laid to rest with her parents and brother in the Somerset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
